How Mole Repellent Can Save Your Garden

Vote For Mole Repellent To Save Your Garden!Moles, normally referred to as rodents actually belong to an animal group scientifically called insectivora. This group includes other animals like shrews and bats. Moles like to take up residence in ground underneath residential lawns, cemeteries, parks and golf courses and that is the principal reason why mole repellent can be so important.

Contrary to what people might believe, moles are not interested in their plants and flowers for food but are interested in the earthworms, snails, slugs and insects that are in the ground beneath them. In a mole’s attempt to get to their food source, they have the tendency to uproot flowers and plants from digging and burrowing holes in the ground. Moles have an highly developed sense of touch which is channeled through tactile hairs on various parts of their body. They are also practically blind, have a very poor sense of smell and in terms of sight they are only able to able to distinguish between light and dark objects.

Mole Repellent

Moles can be quite hard to get rid of. In large areas such as golf courses or cemeteries, it might be impossible to repel every single mole in the area. However in a residential setting, moles can be controlled: using a mole repellent can get rid of your mole problems… and quite literally save your garden.

Until recent years, there weren’t any marketed mole repellents available. Today however there are a number of mole repellents which have received approval in some states in the US. These types of mole repellent are made from castor or ricinus oils and are used by drenching the soil in areas where moles are normally present. Because this type of mole repellent is fairly new, there isn’t any real data available that provides proof of their effectiveness. However, if moles are a problem, using mole repellent such as these is worth a try in an attempt to save your garden.

There are other methods of repelling moles such as setting up barriers: using hardware cloth or sheet metal, you can install a perimeter barrier around flower beds and areas where moles normally visit. If you make certain all connections to the perimeter barrier are secure, it should provide an effective mole repellent and help to save your garden.

Why Mole Repellent is Better Than Mole Traps

Mole Repellent: Lawn Damage Caused By MolesAnother way of ridding your garden of moles is to use traps, but although this method may work well to catch moles it doesn’t get rid of the reasons these moles visit your garden.

Moles come to gardens in search of food. Since it would be virtually impossible to get rid of all of the insects that attract moles, using a trap is really only a temporary fix. Before long there’ll be a new mole to replace the one trapped.

Finding techniques to repel moles is the only solution if you are trying to save your garden. There are many effective types of mole repellent on the market. For further information on specific mole repellents you should check out some of the product reviews in our Animal Repellent Category.
