Applying DEET Based Mosquito Repellent

Posted by Mr Repellent as Insect Repellent

It is commonly known that mosquito repellents that contain DEET provide an effective protection against mosquito and other insect bites. However, many people think that dowsing themselves once with a DEET based repellent is good enough for any situation and/or environment… and this is certainly not the case.

For example, a mosquito repellent that has around a 10% DEET content will last maybe up to two hours as long as you are not doing anything too physical. If you are a hardcore walker and plan on hiking for several hours you should use a repellent that has a 20% to 50% DEET content.

Children should perhaps have a repellent that has around a 10% DEET content, which is probably best applied to them by adults.

Of course, always be sure to read and follow the guidelines/instructions for use provided with your DEET based mosquito repellent as with any medication that you purchase and intend to use.

So when you are out and about either walking, gardening or vacationing, be sure to apply not only the correct stregth of DEET based repellent to yourself.. but also remember to top it up appropriately depending on where you are and what you are doing.
