Ant Repellent
An effective ant repellent can be an enormous asset since these pesky little creatures can cause lots of damage and headaches to boot.
Whay Ant Repellent?
Ants tend to find their way into homes and build nests which ultimately mean more ants. They tend to eat away at wood and other materials used in the construction of your home and eventually ants can be the reason for unnecessary repairs.
Ants can also be responsible for spreading different viral diseases. Through their nesting process there is a black fungus created which can be destructive when spread to plants.
If you already have a problem with ants, you will need to locate and destroy the ant nest and the queen ant. However if you want to prevent ants from entering your home (or out of your tent if you’re camping) you will need to get hold of an ant repellent that is recognized as being effective.
There are many suggestions for ant repellents including barriers made of chalk dust or talcum powder, a silica pyrethrum or areogel spray, or sticky barriers and cucumber parings. There are also many recommendations for a more direct ant repellent in cases where ants have already invaded, such as:
- pouring Epsom salts directly into the nest
- pouring apple cider vinegar in the holes of the ant nest
- dousing the nest with boiling water several times
- or using the garden hose to flood the nest every few days.
